This is the first picture of things to come. Although it's only 5.4mm long, it has a heart beat, which is working fine. The next ultrasound should be a little more interesting.

Loss of a friend
I just found out that a player on my soccer team has died today after getting caught up in an avalanche while skiing.
It strange to open up your e-mail and get news like that. Although I didnt know him all that well I did know that he was a very nice guy and its a real shame that his time came this early.
He was the guy who would always try and get everyone together after a game for a beer, i've never seen him in a bad mood, and his commitment during a game was second to none.
He will be missed.

Snow Angel
I have been recognized by the City of Calgary as a Snow Angel! Basically I received a letter and a Snow Angel pin (photo may appear later). My neighbour nominated me as I've been helping her out with a bunch of different things. This post might be a little more interesting if I end up winning the holiday thats up for grabs, stay tuned.

Becoming a Father
For those of you who don't know already and are for some reason reading this, I am going to be a dad, well not for another nine months, but a couple of weeks in and the work has already begun! I have been reading what pregnancy involves and it seems that its not as easy as just waiting nine months. Some books and web sites say that peanuts are a big no no, while others say that peanut butter is a good source of protein for a vegetarian mum. Diet pop, caffeine, green tea, tuna amongst other things are out, and something called a 'well balanced diet' is in!

My House
So here are a few pictures of my house, lets start with the kitchen.
Mum, you might notice the handles
you guessed it, its from IKEA.
I broke through the wall and made this window. No one has ever sat down and used it!
The dinning area, this does get used.
Moving further down we have the 'lounge' area, i don't know who that lazy guy is, he should be working on the basement.
From another angle.
Also on the main level is the piano/spare room.
Jacob using the piano, in the piano room.
Coming soon: the upstairs!

Fame at last! but not for me.
Jacob has made the Calgary Herald, the main Calgary broadsheet. His class was chosen for a pilot program where all kids are given a laptop, this is meant to improve their skills and learning using the computer as an aid. The fact that they are not allowed to take it home yet seems a little strange, but time will tell.

The Yard/The Garden
Today I continued with my on going headache, or one of my on going headache. Although today i could actually see some progress which is nice, only problem is its starting to snow and i'm not really going to get to enjoy it untill next year.
Project One. The Steps.
After Sutton came and helped me build the patio, i changed the steps coming off the deck so that you could walk directly from the house down the steps to the patio.
Project two. The Pergola
A little more ambitious, a pergola over the patio.
Project Three. The fence.
Separating the garden from the driveway.
